Every week is a busy week when it comes to Universal Parks news. To help you keep up with all the updates coming out of Universal Orlando Resort and other Universal resorts around the world, here’s our Universal Parks News Today weekly recap from August 30 to September 6, 2020.
Universal Orlando Resort
- Following Volcano Bay’s closure for two days each week, there is a new rumor that Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure may soon do the same due to low attendance
- In our first photo report of the week, we documented new Voodoo Doughnuts, a Halloween Horror Nights hoodie, low crowds, and more!
- In our second photo report, we found a new Trolls mask, ate breakfast at San Francisco Pastry Company, and more!
- And in our third photo report, we made a new pumpkin in the Mold-A-Rama, ordered food on a mobile phone and saw the awesome new UOAP Lounge in the Jurassic Park Discovery Center
- All three parks in Universal Orlando Resort reached capacity on the Saturday before Labor Day and on Sunday as well
Universal Studios Florida
- You can make your own pumpkin with a new Mold-A-Rama machine in the Halloween Horror Nights Tribute Store
- A new U•Rest Area was opened in the New York section of the park in anticipation of the Labor Day crowds
- We reviewed the spooky new “Remember the Fear” refresher at Starbucks
- A very Beetlejuice-inspired frosting graces this beautiful and delicious Halloween Confetti Cake from the Halloween Horror Nights Tribute Store
Universal’s Islands of Adventure
- In an update on the construction of the upcoming “Velocicoaster,” we documented additional track being installed and more walls going up!
- A few days later, the entire “Velocicoaster” track was officially complete
- In anticipation of Labor Day crowds, lockers were installed at The Eighth Voyage of Sinbad Theater, which is currently a U•Rest location
- The Jurassic Park Discovery Center has reopened as an exclusive UOAP lounge area connected to The Burger Digs
- A bypass bridge opened up beneath “Velocicoaster”, offering a unique look at the coaster
- A new U•Rest Area opened up in Toon Lagoon for guests to take a breather without their masks on
- This delicious new Guava Pastelito is a welcome addition to Natural Selections in Jurassic Park at IOA
Universal CityWalk Orlando
- A new Halloween Horror Nights Jack the Clown Voodoo Doughnut is deviously delicious
- If clowns aren’t your thing, there’s also a new Pumpkin Spice doughnut available from VooDoo Doughnut
Universal Studios Japan
- We tried these adorable new Doraemon Dango Dumplings from the new STAND BY ME Doraemon 2 XR Ride
- Backdraft and Terminator 2: 3-D are temporarily closing beginning September 14th due to low attendance
- New frightfully tempting Halloween treats coming to Universal Studios Japan on September 28
- Spooky new entertainment and character greeting coming to Universal Studios Japan starting September 18
- We took a merchandise tour of the Snoopy Studios Store
New Merchandise
- Clever Jurassic Park and Jurassic World face masks arrived at Universal Orlando Resort
- Some Halloween Horror Nights merchandise, including shirts and socks, have gone on sale in CityWalk
- New Snoopy devil items are coming to Universal Studios Japan on September 18 and we can’t wait
- We want to be “friends til the end” with this new Chucky merchandise released at Universal Studios Japan
- Adorable new “Casper” merchandise at Universal Studios Japan brings the friendliest ghost you know home for Halloween
- Relive past scares with some “Horror Throwbacks” Halloween Horror Nights merch featuring Chance and HHN 26
