BREAKING: Governor Gavin Newsom Postponing Release of Theme Park Reopening Guidelines Due To Backlash from Disneyland and Other California Theme Parks

According to LA Times reporter Phil Wilson, Governor Gavin Newsom is postponing the long-awaited release of California theme park guidelines following backlash from Disneyland and other parks in the state. Officials originally said that the guidelines would be released this week. An announcement from Newsom was actually expected today.

According to Brady MacDonald of The Orange County Register, the California Attractions and Parks Association asked state officials yesterday to not finalize plans just yet—not before conferring with park operators and modifying certain protocols before officially issuing guidelines.

In a statement to the OC Register, CAPA Executive Director Erin Guerrero said the following:

We ask the governor not to finalize guidance for amusement parks before engaging the industry in a more earnest manner, listening to park operators’ expertise and collaborating with the industry on a plan that will allow for amusement parks to reopen responsibly while still keeping the health and safety of park employees and guests a top priority. While we are aligned on many of the protocols and health and safety requirements, there are many others that need to be modified if they are to lead to a responsible and reasonable amusement park reopening plan.

Erin Guerrero, CAPA Executive Director

It seems the parks have been given a chance to overview a draft of the guidelines, and are not happy with what can only be assumed are strict or overly restrictive guidelines, considering the note about a “reasonable” reopening plan. Guidelines will reportedly vary between counties, possibly limiting who can visit the parks in order to discourage long-distance or out-of-state travel.

    • All you cry babies should does us all the favor and leave. Texas and Florida is welcoming Covid. You should move there

  1. Thank you so much for the news you have been putting out. I am a huge disney fan and i like to stay updated about disney news.

  2. Wow that’s pathetic. What do you expect? The governor is a major tool with ties to Pelosi. I guess he’s getting them prepped to see how communism feels.

    • Robin, All the newly unemployed unable to find new employment is a greater threat to “public health” than any corona virus.

      • Disney is laying off because they are trying to force California to open amusement parks before it is safe. When WDW is allowed to fully open because their numbers are better they don’t have to lay-off they want to.

      • Sounds like he drew up these reopening requirements in a silo instead of working with the parks. Basic government 101.

      • How about letting people who have lost their jobs (a difficult, but temporary setback) sit down and discuss their woes with those that have lost parents, spouses or kids to covid (permanent losses that can’t be undone). It would be a very sorrowful discussion on both sides. But one that the “I really need to go to Disney” crowd would hopefully stay out of.

    • All the newly unemployed are neighbors, friends, brothers, sisters , etc etc that enjoyed working for Disney and have lives just like you. If you think for a minute that supreme leader newsons single handed decision over people’s lives isn’t ludacris vs “people’s health” – think again. Every other aspect of California life is more open and just as “risky”

  3. Bob Iger quit Newsom’s planning group. The rupture is deep & wide. The Governor has made himself an enemy of the Mouse.

    • Oh we did on vacation and it was awful! Does not even compare to Disneyland here. It was dirty and the parking was very inconvenient. We did not like it at all. Bathrooms were not clean and tidy. Disneyland here is CLEAN all the time. They clean up any and all trash. Not in Florida! If I take my grandkids there I want it to be safe, period. I want to feel safe myself, so open when it is safe for employees as well as visitors. I hope it all works out because I really miss going there. My favorite place on earth!

  4. That’s interesting Robyn Marks. It’s lack of education in that statement that emphasizes the voter base we have. The things he is doing are NOT helping our state, which is why our numbers are so high for COVID and our small businesses are being destroyed and our citizens are suffering…. but vote on in your ignorance like the rest of LA and San Francisco.

  5. We need to get rid of newsom out along with the other Democrats as they are hurting our country. We need more republicans in office and get America great again. All the Democrats are done is wanting Americans to stay lockdown

    • Right?! Let’s get out there and get the elderly sick so they die! PRONTO! What are we waiting for?

    • Aren’t you the same ones who 6 months ago wanted to sacrifice the entire population just because you couldn’t eat at Applebee’s or get your haircut?

  6. Disneyland might as well not open at all if the state tries to set rules for no out of county or out of state visitors. Talk about blatant stupidity.

  7. Did any of you even read this? Newsom was supposed to release guidelines but THE THEME PARKS ASKED TO HOLD OFF BECAUSE THE GUIDELINES WEREN’T TO THEIR SATISFACTION.

“We ask the governor not to finalize guidance for amusement parks…”

  8. Disneyland and other theme parks should just relocate to other states. If you want to get someone’s attention mess with their money. GN has messed up Californian lives by keeping the economy shut down for too long. Now is the time to remove his tax base. Tesla is thriving in Texas.

  9. I am originally from CA, just came back for a visit and Disneyland was closed and I got to thinking… they opened Downtown Disney… can’t they at least open Main Street USA? No charge of admission and just block off the rest of the park? The cast members seem to think it’s a good idea too. Gavin Gruesome, you are a heartless man!
