Hello from another magical day at Walt Disney World! We decided to see what was new in the Magic Kingdom today, and boy are we glad we chose this lovely park today. With holiday weekend crowds still swelling in the parks, it was a bit of a struggle to maintain proper social distancing, but we managed to stay safe and find exciting new things today. Let’s get started!
Our days at the Magic Kingdom always start with a construction update now that work is underway on the Toll Plaza repainting project. It looks like work on the first set of lanes has been wrapped up, at least for now, and the second set of lanes has been closed off to guests.
Once parked, we saw that more work had been done on the Resort Boat Launch structure roof covering that we saw being installed yesterday. The fabric is placed on the structure, mounted in place, and then cut to fit.
Inside the park, we found a new scrim tower had been added to the corner of “it’s a small world” exterior queue.
Even with the holiday weekend coming to a close, the increased crowds were still present in the park, made apparent by the extra long lines for attractions. The line for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, which has been using the nearby exterior queue for the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor (Temporarily Unavailable) for some time, started using the interior queue today as well. We were told by a Cast Member that guests were not entering the attraction itself, only the queue, but we were still surprised that this extra bit of space was needed.
Over at Splash Mountain, the bridge crossing over the water of the attraction just in front of the ride’s iconic drop was closed to through traffic in order to become a switch back area for the queue for the attraction itself. The line looped through this area, then ran the length of the attraction, and started at the next bridge. The wait time at the time this photo was taken was 75 minutes.
We saw Anastasia and Drizella today in their updated location since the reopening of Cinderella’s Royal Table. They were previously heckling guests from atop Cinderellas Castle, and only moved here during inclement weather. Since the reopening of the restaurant, their amplified comedic meet and greet has been permanently moved to the Princess Fairytale Hall entrance. We could stay and watch their antics all day!
We found some fun new merchandise in the park today. First were several character-based onesies, the first of which featured Woody from Toy Story with the phrase, “There’s a new sheriff in town.”
Next was this adorable onesie featuring Jack Jack from The Incredibles and the phrase, “Incredible baby.”
Lastly, was this onesie featuring Forky from Toy Story and the phrase “I’m new here.” They were found at The Emporium and retail for $19.99 each.
We found this fun beach towel featuring an impressive array of princesses and castle silhouettes, perfect for showing your princess pride while soaking up some sun at the beach or pool.
We appreciated how many princesses were featured! Also on this towel, but not shown here are Aurora, Cinderella, Moana, Jasmine, Ariel, and Belle. We found this at Splashdown Photos and it retails for $26.99.
By far the cutest thing we found today was this pair of Big Feet plush of Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps from Zootopia. They make quite the pair, don’t they?
The Lunching Pad reopened last week with two popular stuffed pretzels on its menu. Today we found a third had joined their ranks, making for an unheard-of three stuffed pretzels all on one menu. We tried the Jalapeño Stuffed Pretzel and it was a winner! You can read our full review here.
While we were out and about, we found Peter Pan greeting guests from the porch of Crystal Palace. We love these surprise character sightings! We had a wonderful day at the Magic Kingdom, and we hope you enjoyed coming along with us. Have a magical day!
