Among the many construction projects going on at EPCOT is the demolition of the Electric Umbrella to make way for a new Starbucks and restaurant. Earlier this week, we saw that the second floor of the Electric Umbrella was gone, and now it looks like more has been torn out of the inside.
Demolition first became apparent when the restaurant’s canopy was removed.
Inside, there’s not much left to remind us of the Electric Umbrella. Several spots seem to have exposed wood paneling. The back wall use to display menus, the neon “Electric Umbrella” sign, and umbrella decor.
This area will eventually be called World Celebration, one of four “neighborhoods” in EPCOT. The other three are World Nature, World Discovery, and World Showcase.
What are you most looking forward to with the remodeling of EPCOT? Let us know in the comments.
Thank you for HIGHLIGHTING that the NEON was removed.
We all know the rules when replacing something at a Disney theme park. “If you remove something, whatever you replace has to be better.” If the new quick service restaurant doesn’t become better than the electric umbrella, I’m not going to give positive reviews.
