The Magic Kingdom toll plaza is getting a new royal blue, gold, and rose gold treatment to match Cinderella Castle in time for Magic Kingdom’s 50th anniversary next year. Refurbishment is about a third of the way done, with over a month of work remaining.
Three lanes in the center of the plaza were blocked off today while painting continues.
The space between the “L” and “C” in “Welcome” is still just gray with primer.
Workers have begun painting the marquee on top of the plaza.
When we last checked in, there was gray primer on the dark blue beneath the marquee’s “M”, though it appears to be back to its old shade of blue.
Workers were focused on the gold background of the marquee, which is being painted a fresh shade.
Workers were also painting the back of the marquee.
The first three toll booths seem complete, though some painter’s tape remained on one of them.
The fourth booth has been half-painted.
The metal pennant above the “M” has been painted gold and will likely be receiving a rose gold layer soon.
While we have an idea of what most of the plaza will soon look like, we can’t wait to see the final look of the marquee.
We look forward to seeing Magic Kingdom toll plaza paint job continue for the next six weeks. Keep checking WDWNT for updates on this and other refurbishment projects.
