REVIEW: Get a Taste of Super Nintendo with the Super Mario Birthday Cake Batter Bash Ice Cream at the Universal Orlando Resort

We might not have a Mario Cafe here in Orlando, but you can still get a little taste of Super Nintendo at the Universal Orlando Resort with the new Super Mario Birthday Cake Batter Bash. Cold Stone Creamery, located in CityWalk, is now serving up a shake and sundae themed to Super Mario. It’s a hot day and we’ve been jealous of our friends over in Japan, so we decided to grab a sundae and level up our day. Let’s-a go!

It’s-a me, Mario! The ice cream comes served in a fancy little cup complete with Mario and Yoshi.

As with all Cold Stone Creamery creations, a Team Member will skillfully mix all the ingredients together right in front of you. This sundae combines cake batter ice cream, yellow cake, blue frosting, and sprinkles. Although the sign advertises star sprinkles, these were just your standard rainbow sprinkles.

We did our best to photograph this treat, but it was no match for the heat.

This is very similar to the Birthday Cake Remix Signature Creation, swapping brownie for yellow cake and fudge for frosting. The frosting wasn’t quite as heavy or sweet as we expected, and had more of a whipped frosting taste. Soft chunks of yellow cake and creamy blue frosting works well with the cake batter ice cream. If you’re a fan of birthday cake flavored desserts, this is a winner. To be honest, we would order this again just for the cute cup.

A little behind the scenes action here for you.

Even though this might have been a better treat to serve from Schwab’s Pharmacy, we’ll get our fix of Super Nintendo anywhere we can. Next time you’re visiting CityWalk at Universal Orlando, be sure to stop by Cold Stone Creamery and give this one a try.
