Total Cast Member Layoffs at Walt Disney World Reaches Over 18,000

A new notice of layoffs indicates that 11,350 more union employees of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts will be terminated. Over 10,000 of those are Walt Disney World Cast Members, bringing the resort’s total number of layoffs to over 18,000.

The notice also includes some Cast Members from the Maingate Complex, Orlando International Airport, Celebration, and more.

We learned earlier today that 10,000 Cast Members are being laid off from Disneyland Resort. This means the resorts have reached the combined total of 28,000 layoffs that Disney Parks originally announced.

The Walt Disney Company restored the salaries of its Senior Executives in late August, when thousands of Cast Members were still on furlough.

We at WDWNT are supporting these Cast Members as much as possible. You can help too! Help raise money for the Cast Member Pantry by donating directly through WDWNT.

The donation-based organization also has an Amazon Wish List as well as Venmo—their account is: @castmemberpantry. Cast Members can email Cast Member Pantry or contact them via their Facebook page to book a 15-minute “shopping” window.
