As Orange County has reentered California’s purple “widespread” COVID-19 tier, shop capacity has been reduced and indoor dining suspended all around the Downtown Disney District.

With the restrictions that come with the tier, non-grocery retail stores must operate at a maximum of 25%. Above, you can see how that affects The Dress Shop.

When our reporter visited, only two groups at a time were allowed in the store. One group had three people, while the other had two.

Over at the Backlot Premiere Shop, only a handful of people were inside.

Restaurants have also been hit by the restrictions, with indoor dining rooms forced to close. When we visited Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen, they notified us that restaurants throughout the district will not offer indoor dining until the restrictions are lifted. Meanwhile, some exclusively indoor restaurants are also making adjustments. When we contacted GCH Craftsman Bar & Grill at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, they said that they will ask hotel guests to dine at Buena Vista Street at Disney California Adventure.

Meanwhile, World of Disney also had light crowds inside.

The large size (and high capacity) of the store means that more guests can be allowed inside at a time, though it’s still far less than the crowds that are normally here.

Even with the change in tier, guests still arrived to shop through the store’s wide variety of merchandise.

The new restrictions come just before Buena Vista Street is set to reopen to guests on Friday. Though outdoor dining and shopping are already part of the experience, reduced capacity means that it will be more difficult for guests to enter the park as the COVID-19 infection rates continue to rise around the state.
