California Governor Gavin Newsom Announces Regional Stay-at-Home Order Based on ICU Capacity

California Governor Gavin Newsom has issued a strict new stay-at-home order due to rising cases of COVID-19 across the state.

The order, once in place, may apply to the following regions: Bay Area, greater Sacramento, Northern California, Southern California, and San Joaquin Valley. As each of these regions’ ICU capacity falls below 15%, a three-week lockdown will be enacted within that region.

While residents are distraught at the possibility of another lockdown, it has been noted that no regions have been placed into the regional stay-at-home order at this time.

Under the lockdown, hair salons, personal services, plus bars and wineries must remain closed. Retail stores will be limited to 20% capacity. Restaurants may only stay open for takeout and delivery.

In addition, all non-essential travel is now temporarily restricted statewide.
