Dale Baer, Disney Animator for The Emperor’s New Groove, Winnie the Pooh, and The Lion King, Has Passed Away at 70

Walt Disney Animation Studios announced today on Twitter that animator Dale Baer has passed away. Baer’s Disney Animation career spanned nearly 50 years and began with Robin Hood. He was 70-years-old when he passed away on January 15th, 2021.

Baer has worked as a supervising animator on beloved Disney animated films The Emperor’s New Groove and Winnie the Pooh. He has also animated on The Lion King, Treasure Planet, Home on the Range, and Meet the Robinsons. He more recently contributed to The Princess and the Frog.

His legacy will live on through his animation that will last forever. Clay Kaytis tweeted that, in lieu of flowers, his family requests that friends would consider donating to causes that are searching for a cure for A.L.S.
