It’s a beautiful day and we’re back at the Universal Orlando Resort to check in on all the happenings around the park. We’re in for a very busy day, so let’s get started at Universal Studios Florida.
Crowds were good around the park, but we’re anticipating it to be much crowded this weekend!
Our hearts were broken today when we walked into KidZone and found all the signage, banners, and the Barney statue removed from “A Day in the Park with Barney”. The show was recently confirmed as permanently closed, but we still weren’t ready to part with our favorite purple dinosaur just yet. We’ll be interested to see what is added to this area in the future.
Jurassic World VelociCoaster merchandise has popped up in several locations around the park, but the “grand opening” merchandise was pulled from shelves the same day it was released.
New “Fast and Furious” Hello Kitty merchandise has started to arrive. We found this shirt in the Hello Kitty Shop for $28. We’re hearing that more “Fast and Furious” Hello Kitty merchandise might be coming soon, too. There’s also phone cases available on the U Design kiosks around the park. Check them out in our post here.
Super Silly Stuff has a promotion where you can purchase a minion backpack for $10 when you make a purchase of $25 or more.
Food booths around the park are busy today, especially right after opening at 11 AM.
Everyone is celebrating Mardi Gras and even Diego was out throwing beads today.
It’s A Wrap, the gift shop at the exit of Universal Studios Florida, has Blue Man Group and Barney merchandise, so we snagged a Barney plush while we still had a chance.
The new Universal Studios Store in CityWalk is coming along nicely and the old location has started to get a make over, too. Props, models, and photos from the last 30 years of Universal Studios Florida are now decorating the store. Take a closer look in our post here.
Islands of Adventure wasn’t too busy and Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure only had a 45 minute wait when we passed by this afternoon.
The walls around the raptor paddock for the Jurassic World VelociCoaster were just taken down and everyone is eager to get a look at the lush landscape and beautiful track. There has been a lot of crowding in the area during testing, so distancing markers have been added nearby.
Refurbishment continues on Dudley Do-Right’s Rip Saw Falls.
The entrance of the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man is still getting worked on, but guests can visit the attraction by entering a temporary entrance near Toon Lagoon.
That’s all for this visit to the Universal Orlando Resort. Be sure to keep following WDWNT and Universal Parks News Today for all the latest updates!
