We’ve come a long way and still have a long way to go with the refurbishment and construction of EPCOT’s new World Celebration neighborhood. Once complete, the neighborhood will house Starbucks, Club Cool, a new quick-service restaurant, and the refurbished Mouse Gear.
Windows and additional structural supports are being installed around Mouse Gear’s building.
The supports jut out at an angle from the building’s overhang.
There are chunks of the overhang missing and broken, so it will need to receive a remodel before construction is complete.
The gap in the windows will be one of the entrances to MouseGear.
Inside MouseGear, we’ve seen several of these round structures in the ceiling take shape.
Some of them have been completely enclosed to create tubes (reminiscent of the old Communicore skylights).
Mouse Gear is being refurbished to have a more streamlined, open appearance and it’s not clear what these tubes will look like when the refurbishment is complete.
Firewall has been installed on the exterior wall of the adjacent Club Cool location.
Club Cool was previously across the courtyard from Mouse Gear, but it will now occupy an area that previously housed FastPass+ kiosks.
More steel supports surround the Electric Umbrella and Innoventions East building.
For now, this building remains almost entirely open, with no windows or walls yet installed.
Below is the original concept art of World Celebration.
We don’t know exactly how much plans have changed due to COVID-19 delays, but the area will still look approximately like the concept art, with Mouse Gear to the left and Journey of Water to the right.
