The historic transformation of EPCOT is moving right along! We have been keeping you updated on the future World Celebration neighborhood construction thus far. Now, the World Nature neighborhood construction is underway. The waterways between The Land and The Seas pavilions have been drained, an action that is necessary to make way for the Moana-themed Journey of Water walkthrough experience.
The concept art for the Journey of Water is above. This experience will be located in the World Nature neighborhood. This neighborhood will be dedicated to knowledge and preservation of the beauty and balance of the natural world. Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, will be featured in this area along with the already-existing The Land and The Seas with Nemo & Friends pavillions.
Inspired by the hit Walt Disney Animation Studios film, Journey of Water is described as a “lush exploration trail” that “will invite you to meet and play with magical, living water.” Just like the ocean in Moana, this water will have a life of its own. Guests will learn the importance of the natural water cycle at this experience.
Consisting of a number of water features, this Moana-inspired trail will lead down towards The Seas with Nemo and Friends pavilion. This experience will be a child-friendly.
Of course, to make way for this new interactive experience, the waterways in the vicinity must be drained so that construction may begin. It’s unclear when guests will no longer have access to these areas that have been a part of the park since 1982.
Currently, the water and water feature at the Imagination! Pavilion have been left untouched.
EPCOT Neighborhoods Concept Art
Once its transformation is completed, EPCOT will be made up of four neighborhoods that each speak to important aspects of the world and its people: World Showcase, World Celebration, World Nature, and World Discovery.

Epcot is my favorite, and I’m very much looking forward to the updates. Moana is a great movie, and I think it’s a neat idea to base a water attraction around the film!
You’re obviously on crazy pills. Moana fits at the Polynesian Resort better than at EPCOT.
OI don ‘t know, maybe I just don’t get the concept but this seems very silly.
I was at EPCOT yesterday and water was being added to the waterways so it’s not clear what is happening.
Yeah, it seems like it was something else. We can’t be very far from this happening since the Innoventions building is about to come down.
If I want to play with water, I can do it at home, not in a walkthrough attraction at EPCOT. Plus, Moana makes zero sense at EPCOT.
