During today’s virtual annual meeting of shareholders of The Walt Disney Company, Disney CEO Bob Chapek announced the grand opening of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT will be Oct. 1, 2021. This new family-friendly attraction will officially debut as part of the kickoff for “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” honoring Walt Disney World Resort’s 50thanniversary.
The opening date is much later than most expected it to be, as the attraction has been completed for some time now. It appears Disney is waiting for more of everyday life to return to normal as the pandemic winds down and vaccinations roll out.
Despite the original announcement that there would be several new offerings debuting by Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary (TRON Lightcycle Run, Roundup Rodeo Barbecue, ETC.), Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is the only ride now confirmed to be arriving for “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” in 2021. Chapek did also mention Guardians of the Galaxy – Cosmic Rewind, but did not mention an opening date for EPCOT’s first roller coaster.
As always, keep scurrying back to WDWNT.com for the latest on Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary, “The World’s Most Magical Celebration”.
DISNEY DOES EVERYTHING ON TIME
Remy can be opened a lot sooner that that! Thanks for nothing, Chapek!
I’m already booked at MK for October 1 and I fly back home on October 2. Well, reason to come back again soon! Fingers crossed this somehow gets bumped up though….
Good lord, Velocicoaster, Iron Gwazi and Ice Breaker will ALL be open by this summer and yet Disney still wants to wait until October to open their new ride that has been completed for some time now… I understand the move, since things will be more and more back to normal by then. It seems that this will be the ONLY new ride for the 50th celebration this year, so no wonder they want to keep it closed until then.. what a shame
No Ratatouille yet, No space 220 yet, no Woody’s roundup bbq yet, no Tron yet, no Guardians coaster yet… Disney is really slacking lately, although they’re set up for a good future.
So far, Including COVID in March, Disney has suckkkkkked under Cheapek lol they cut entertainment, cut thousands of jobs, cut budget corners and halt multiple construction projects, yet retain executive bonuses.
Disappointed. I’ll be there in June.
Cast members who were let go passes expire September 26. So not surprising at all from this company
Hmmm, makes senseeee
So disappointed
What a major disappointment
I’m very disappointed in this move. I’ll be there in late July/early August and I was looking forward to riding this ride. All the cool stuff they were going to open this year has been delayed so much and some of it I understand but this ride is ready to go and I wish they would open it. Now I’ll have to wait till next year if I go next year.
I guess they don’t care about all the people that are planning to come earlier in the year. They should give a couple good reasons to urge people to come for the summer before kids go back to school in september
I understand the disappointment, and empathize for sure, but let me offer another perspective. Purely operational. MK is expected to be PACKED on Oct 1st so any effort to divert some of that traffic to other area of the resort, like Remy at Epcot, makes sense.
