REVIEW: New Photo-Worthy Peanut Butter Chocolate Milkshake at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has a new peanut butter chocolate milkshake available on Sunset Boulevard at Hollywood Scoops, which also recently tested breakfast drinks and cinnamon rolls.

The milkshake wasn’t on the menu, but it was on display at the counter.

This milkshake has a nice presentation and, as peanut butter lovers, had us excited from the moment we saw the display shake. Within minutes of stepping away from Hollywood Scoops with the shake, half a dozen guests asked what it was and where we got it.

Starting from the top, what appears to be half a peanut butter cup is actually a cleverly-designed and delicious brownie covered in a thick layer of dark chocolate. The brownie is dense and rich, which fits the theme of this milkshake as a heavier snack. The shake also has a layer of whipped cream on top, which added a nice airiness to offset the initial scoops and sips.

Sadly, it all starts to fall apart from there. The crumble on the rim of the cup tasted like a Butterfinger, but it was so thick and dry that it was essentially inedible. We suspect these cups are prepared in advance and sit for a while with the candy crumble. It’s a shame that this is just used for aesthetic reasons when it could’ve elevated the shake.

Finally, the shake itself was an average mixture of artificial peanut butter flavoring and weak chocolate. It started out thick enough, reflecting the hand-scooped branding of Hollywood Scoops, but the taste simply didn’t match the presentation.

This is a photo-worthy dessert that will make you the envy of your social network, but the taste will leave you feeling underwhelmed.
