REVIEW: Trowel & Trellis Hosted by IMPOSSIBLE at the 2021 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival

Trowel & Trellis, which is sponsored by Impossible Foods, is back for another year at the 2021 Taste of EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival. Each dish this booth serves up is completely plant-based, which is sure to make it hit at the festival.

Grilled Street Corn on the Cob with Savory Garlic Spread – $5.75

The seasoning on this corn on the cob is good, but nothing special. Corn on the cob is usually street food for fairs and flea markets, so it feels like there was a lack of effort/ingenuity in creating a dish for this booth. They could’ve done sliders or something instead. At the end of the day, this is just… corn. At least it takes a good photo.

*NEW* Impossible™ Sausage and Kale Soup – $5.00

This looks gross. That being said, we were really surprised by how good it actually tasted. Each bite has just enough kale flavor with a spicy kick. Sadly, this event takes place through some of the hottest months, so we don’t expect this to be too popular. Maybe it would be better as a fall offering during Food & Wine.

*NEW* Boneless Impossible™ Korean Short Rib with Cilantro-Lime Rice, Danmuji Slaw and Kimchee Mayonnaise – $6.75

The theme of this review is going to be that Impossible produces better food than Disney orders, because this was better than any other actual beef dish at the event. It tasted like real, tender short rib, was nicely seasoned and very flavorful, accompanied by a nice-enough bed of cilantro-lime rice.

*NEW* Lavender Pot de Crème with Blueberry Cake, Pink Peppercorn and Lime Whipped Cream – $5.00

This is the best new dessert at the Festival this year, in our opinion. Notes of blueberry, fennel, lavender and peppercorn can be found throughout. It’s not called a cake because it isn’t a cake; once you break into this shell, the gelatinous creme will pour over. While messy, this presents a unique dessert offering for the event, one we think those with an elevated palette will enjoy immensely.

*NEW* Twinings of London® Energize Matcha Cranberry & Lime Green Tea (Non-Alcoholic) – $4.50

It just tasted like cranberry juice with lime (watered-down cranberry juice at that). Don’t bother ordering this.

*NEW* Parish Brewing Co. Bloom Hazy IPA, Broussard, LA (7.0% ABV) – $4.50 / $8.50

Parish Brewing Co. describes their Bloom Hazy IPA as “a juicy, soft, hazy IPA absolutely loaded with Simcoe and Nugget hops. Often described as ‘bright and floral,’ Bloom lacks the resinous, piney flavors of many IPAs, instead exhibiting a depth of citrus undertones with an intense juicy overlay.”

*NEW* Twinings of London® Energize Matcha Cranberry & Lime Green Tea with Hangar 1 Makrut Lime Vodka ($30/bottle) Served in a Mason Jar – $11.00

Honestly, the vodka goes a long way to fix this drink, but not far enough. The vodka seemed to eliminate all of the other intended flavors though. Pass on this one.
