Revealed in the upcoming “Art of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” coffee table book, there will be a female version of the classic Captain Rex droid piloting the transport between Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel.
Her name is Rex Droid V03A and she will drive the shuttle transporting guests back and forth from Batuu up to the Galactic Starcruiser. She’s not “actually of the Halcyon; she is of the transport that is operated out of Black Spire Outpost.”
The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will have themed, experiential transport shuttles to take guests directly to and from the hotel and Batuu, which we now know will be piloted by Rex Droid V03A.
Right now, the possible drop-off location is being used for the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run queue. We’ve recently shared additional aerial images of the future shuttle stops, which can be seen here.
The shuttle busses will be fully immersive. Heavily themed, the shuttles will lead guests to believe they are in a space capsule on their way to a day of vacation fun on Batuu. Guests will enter from a jetway which will put them inside the sealed-off center section of this bus. They won’t see a driver, nor the outside world of Central Florida as screens will show imagery of space in lieu of windows—at least not until they disembark at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
There will be a limited number of seats inside the shuttles, all facing inwards. It’s unclear if there will be an animatronic version of the droid on the shuttle, or if she’ll just appear on a screen.
Guests aboard the shuttles will remain fully in-story as the transport ships are designed specifically for this new immersive experience, as seen in the above concept art.
Concept art of what the shuttle would look like in-story can be seen above.
