Pavement all over Walt Disney World is being replaced, most notably beneath Spaceship Earth at EPCOT. We have seen some minor pavement work throughout Magic Kingdom, and now stone in Fantasyland is being removed.

A circle of stone outside Peter Pan’s Flight is roped off and has a construction box on top of it.

A square of pavement has already been replaced, cutting into the circle of stone.

The new pavement stands out against the remaining stone and the old, faded pavement.

The rest of the pavement in the area may very well be replaced too as Imagineers make Magic Kingdom look its best before the beginning of “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” on October 1, 2021, the park’s 50th birthday.

  1. I think where the stone pavers are in fantasy land is where the support poles for the skyway used to be. Possibly they may have left something in the ground where they were and have to remove them and or its to make it easier for people in wheelchairs to be able to navigate as a flat surface is better for them

  2. Stones are a tripping hazard, even if they are flat…. but I can’t help thinking that a little dye in that pavement would go a long way to keeping the heat down in the summer and improving the look.
