A new quick-service restaurant complex is being constructed in the space that once housed Electric Umbrella at EPCOT. After we saw a new beam installed on the building, the corner has been rounded off with more steel.

Construction is visible from Spaceship Earth’s overflow queue.

Crew members in cherry-pickers were working on the corner.

More steel will be installed ahead of placing new paneling on the corner. This would restore the rounded corner to how it looked in the Communicore days.

Roof paneling has been removed from other sections of the overhang. A dent in the top of the overhang has been around for several months. Panel replacement will likely be one of the final steps when it comes to completing the building’s exterior.

Inside the building, steel descends to create a lower ceiling.

Slanted steel beams also extend from the overhang to the ground.

Tube shapes descend from the ceiling where new lighting will eventually be installed, as seen in the concept art below.

We also checked out the building from the other side of construction.
