While indoor construction at TRON Lightcycle Run at the Magic Kingdom is still on hold, crews are hard at work on the canopy structure outside. Less than two weeks ago, we reported that the canopy frame was complete.

Removal of the brown temporary support structure began shortly after the frame’s completion. A few days ago, we reported an update that many structures were gone at the end of the frame.

Today we can see that several more of the large support towers have been removed. These supports held the frame up while it was built, but the frame is now entirely self-supporting.

The places where the support structures were attached to the frame are visible. The canopy will obscure these when it is installed.

Right now, the removal of the support structures gives us a view of Space Mountain through the frame. However, this view will be blocked when the canopy is installed.

A large portion of the central beam and its supports have been protected with an orange cover.

A closer look at a section of the frame without supports. Right above the construction wall, rebar coming from a cement structure is also visible.

The work site was very active today, with many crane lifts in place for teams of construction crew members.

The temporary supports in the center are mostly intact.

On the left, near the show building, the frame is surrounded by lifts as teams work to remove more temporary supports.

The show building is still sealed where the track emerges.

At the still-standing temporary structures in the center, ground crews are working.

On the Space Mountain side of the building, more equipment is staged for future use.

The beautiful Florida sun shines over the primary staging area.

We can see the old supports being loaded onto a flatbed for removal from the site.

More removed structures sit off to the side, awaiting removal.

Concept art released at D23 in 2019 gives a sneak peek at the completed canopy.
