Universal Orlando has a new offering for Annual Passholders! “Vegan Eggplant Parmesan” is now available through June 30 at Cafe 4 in Islands of Adventure.

We took a chance and tried this new meal. We did order is à la carte but it came with the salad anyways.

Unfortunately, it’s hard to decide what was the worst part of this meal.
This meal comes served over pasta with a breadstick. The salad comes with the combo. The salad was less than appealing and that breadstick was quite dry, sadly.

This dish missed the mark. The pasta was tasteless, soft and kind of soggy. The marinara sauce added little in the way of flavor.

We’re sorry to say, but this was like hospital food. The eggplant wasn’t terrible, but it was very bland as well.

The consistency of it was good, but there’s no real flavor that stands out.

It’s topped with peppers, onions, mushrooms, and vegan cheese. These items helped, but not enough to remotely save the dish.

We did eat the entire eggplant and while it wasn’t awful, it wasn’t anything we’ll ever return for, or even recommend. The bottom line is that it’s edible, nothing more.

If you’re looking for a plant-based meal, we say skip this and opt for the Jackfruit Rice Bowl at Thunder Falls Terrace in Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

I’m vegetarian, and I can say that looks particularly unappealing.
