BREAKING: Walt Disney World Has Already Increased and Will Increase Theme Park Capacity Even More “Immediately” Given New CDC Guidelines

Walt Disney World has already started to raise theme park capacity according to Disney CEO Bob Chapek, and they will continue to do so given today’s new guidance from the CDC.

The last we had heard, the theme parks were at 35% capacity, but according to Chapek, this changed at some point to an undisclosed higher percentage.

In terms of the parks, and when we’re going to sort of be able to raise our capacity limits, we’ve actually already started that. Given the guidance that just came today, from the CDC, and earlier guidance that we got from the governor of Florida, we’ve already started to increase our capacities.

So I think you’re going to see an immediate increase in the number of folks that were able to admit into our parks through our reservation systems that we recently implemented. So we’re very, very excited about that.

Bob Chapek, CEO, The Walt Disney Company

Given today’s announcements by the CDC regarding vaccinated people and their reduced need for masks both indoors and outdoors, Chapek stated that guests will “see an immediate increase” in park pass reservation availability at Walt Disney World, as the theme park capacity will be raised even more.

Exactly what “immediate increase” means remains to be seen, but at some point soon at least, we expect to see the parks to be filled with many more guests.

  1. Cmon Disney drop the mask mandate. It’s unnecessary especially outdoors. And bring back fastoasses if you are going to increase park capacity. Where is the magic

    • Sucks, we were gonna go in June. gonna lose a lot of money if we have to cancel if they remove the mask mandate.

      • I would cancel you out by immediately booking a trip if they DID remove the mask mandate.

      • Aw boo! For every crazy that will cancel because of the possibility of not wearing face diapers in Florida summer, about 1,000 people will happily reserve a ticket.

      • You are free to wear a mask at Disney!!!! But do not expect others who are vaccinated to be wearing one after they are fully vaccinated. If you are concerned about coming in contact with someone who is not vaccinated and not wearing a mask perhaps you do need to stay home!!! Disney is not going to lose money by lifting the mandate. In fact more people will be interested in going !!! It is more than time to return to a world where we make our own choices!!

      • Well all I can say is like everyone mentioned and responded when we all complained about having the implemented mask mandate………THEN DON’T GO

      • why would you cancel? Nobody is preventing you from wearing your mask and a shield and gloves or a hazmat suit if that what you need? YOU DO YOU.

    • I was there last week. The temp stations were gone. You didn’t have to wear masks outside. When you had to go into the indoor cues you had to put them on. What I did was to wear my mask on my chin. Easier to lift mask

  2. Before increasing capacity need to open up shows, more shops, and allow more people in restaurants. Shoot need more extended hours too

  3. Would sure be nice if they would ‘immediately’ add back Fast Pass. And also with pretty much no shows, no parades, no fireworks, The guest experience is going to be terrible. But we all know Chapek doesn’t care about that.

    • That is because Chapek has convinced himself that all of his changes are positive and EVERYBODY has embraced them wholeheartedly

  4. We were suppose to go May 28 – June 1 but rented out instead.
We go back for 10 days in mid Sept and hope by then lost of restaurants are open, dining plan is back and fast pass returns. I would take the dining plan and more restaurants first though. MK has skeleton restaurants. I hope by then people don’t have to wear a mask outside and just have to put on when they go inside for a ride to wait. that is more bearable

    • I like the idea of only having to wear a mask inside, but this sounds like an absolute nightmare to enforce. They just wouldn’t be able to do it.

  5. They have been increasing park capacity, but not opening up some quick services and attractions/shows. Please, give me a break.

  6. Wish they would drop the annual pass reservation limits or just get rid of that system as a whole for annual passholders. It devalues the whole point of the pass and is hard on out of state passholders like us who come for more than 3 days at a time

  7. perhaps this will lead back to actual parkhopping instead of the farce they have now? might actually buy an annual pass then.

    • They’re not selling Annual Passes anymore (currently), although if you have an Annual Pass it can be renewed. The 3-day limit for Annual Pass holders is difficult for those of us from out-of-state though.

    • I was on the phone with a cast member. They expect the price to be the same for renewal of ap,s. Even with the restrictions in place.

  8. Time to bring back all the dining plans, especially the free quick service to resort vacation packages!

  9. I can’t see them bringing back fast pass anytime soon. I think they will promote virtual lines instead. They have the Disney app so they can use it for the lines.

  10. im a Florida resident and im not going back to Disney World until the annual passes, park hopper and fast passes return. I will gladly wear a mask to come and go to each park as we please.
