REVIEW: Japanese Highball, Nama Harumaki, and Agedashi Dofu Bowl from the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics Booths at Universal Studios Florida

Who is ready for the 2020 Summer Olympics? Universal Studios Florida certainly is! The resort has added new décor and food booths to celebrate the Tokyo Summer Olympics starting in July. We stopped by one of them earlier today to try some of their offerings.

This booth has several different menu options to choose from, so we tried most of them. Our spread is pictured below.

Agedashi Dofu Bowl – $6.49

First up is the Agedashi Dofu Bowl. This bowl was the winner of the booth. The broth was warm and delicious. It really had an excellent flavor that wasn’t too salty or overpowering. The crispy tofu pieces were amazing and perfectly soaked up the broth. The julienned daikon was slightly crispy and held the flavor of the broth well. We would definitely get this again!

Marinated Tofu – $7.49

Next is the Mainated Tofu. Between the 2 Nama Harumaki options, the Tofu was just slightly better, but neither of them impressed me. The greens were super dry and tasted kind of… old? They were not very fresh and the wrappers were kind of tough and hard on both of the dishes. The Tofu was just slightly fresher as a whole, although we didn’t really care for the tofu here as much as the crispy one in the bowl. The peanut sauce is incredible but there isn’t enough. If there was more, it would have been much easier to eat the rolls.

BBQ Pork – $7.49

Even though the Tofu option was better as a whole, the pork in the BBQ Pork dish was really great. We ended up pulling out a few pieces and dipping them in the remainder of the peanut sauce. Unfortunately, the greens really ruined these dishes. Confisco Grille at Islands of Adventure has a much better Thai Summer Roll on their menu that is extremely fresh compared to these.

Japanese Highball $14.50

Now to top it all off with a drink! The Japanese Highball is freshly made when you order it rather than a pre-mixed vat, which is the first sign this is going to be good. The Team Member mixed up all the ingredients right in the booth. The whiskey taste comes through nice and strong, but it’s still easy to sip. If you like to taste your alcohol, we definitely recommend it this drink and would get it again ourselves.

Overall despite a few let downs, we still enjoyed checking out this new food booth in the park. Are you planning to come try any of these new offerings on your next trip to Universal Orlando? Let us know in the comments! Stay tuned to UPNT for more reviews and updates.
