Our Spider-Sense was tingling, so we had to listen to our intuition and go pick up some of the brand new WEB Tech Add-Ons to go along with our new Spider-Bot that debuted recently in Disney California Adventure along with Avengers Campus. These add-ons can also be used during your ride on WEB SLINGERS A Spider-Man Adventure.
Spider-Bot – $79.99, Pink Web-Slinger (left) – $24.99, attached WEB Power Band – $29.99, Blue Repulsor (right) – $24.99, attached WEB Power Band – $29.99
It took us several tries to get the aiming right, but with the Web-Slinger and Power Band, we were able to fling out a thin white rope. Be careful to aim the rope directly at the Bot, as it will take 3 direct hits in order to disable it.
After three attacks again with our Blue Repulsor, the Spider-Bot’s top half popped off. This was a lot easier done than with the Web-Slinger. During each hit, the Spider-Bot makes sound effects, along with a voiceover announcing its power percentage, to go along with the experience. A first hit reduces its power to 80%, a second hit to 20%, and then the final third hit disarms it fully.

We purchased this toy and were extremely disappointed. First it had to be bought in two pieces since the sales person said one didn’t work without the other. Why not have one that worked and then others you could use with it? However, my 13 year old great grandson, Ethan, was excited to think this would be a great toy. He kept telling me how much he’d enjoy it just as a toy, without the idea of using it in conjunction with the Spiderman Ride we’d been on. Much to our dismay, after putting it together we found the only thing it did was shoot a thick short cord about 5 inches out from the sling area. What a dismal toy! And he paid over $50 out of his own money to buy this sad toy that promised and didn’t deliver. I urge anyone thinking about purchasing this to make sure they know WHAT they are getting.
