In an important milestone for the return to normal operations, Universal’s Aventura Hotel reopened today. This marks the first day since March 2020, when the resort closed for the COVID-19 pandemic, that all eight hotels have been open simultaneously.
With COVID restrictions being relaxed and capacity increasing, Aventura’s reopening signals increased guest demand. The hotel initially reopened last July but closed again in August, likely due to low occupancy.
Recently, Orlando International Airport (MCO) anticipated traveler counts around 90% of pre-pandemic levels, and Disney CEO Bob Chapek cited guest demand as nearing pre-pandemic numbers as well. As we approach Halloween Horror Nights season, one of Universal’s busier times of the year, it’s no surprise to see Universal opening more hotel capacity.
