As Tropical Storm Elsa continues moving towards Florida, some Walt Disney World Resort hotels have introduced hurricane meal kits to their quick-service restaurant menus.
These meal kits can be found on the My Disney Experience menus for Everything POP! at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Beach Club Marketplace at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Capt. Cook’s at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Centertown Market at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, The Mara at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, and more. They are labeled as either “hurricane meal kits” or just “meal kits.”
The kits appear to be identical at each restaurant and the same kits are listed under breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus. One of the adult kits includes a bagel and cream cheese, greek yogurt, cereal and a small low-fat milk, fresh fruit, and simply orange juice served with butter, jelly, utensils, and napkins for $8. The other adult kit is $10 and has a turkey and lettuce wrap, fresh fruit, carrots, chips, chocolate chip cookie, and large Dasani water served with condiments, utensils, and napkins.
There are gluten/wheat allergy-friendly and vegetarian versions of the kits as well. Though some of them say breakfast and some say lunch, there isn’t a major difference.
For kids, there is a breakfast kit including cereal and a small low-fat milk, raisins, apple slices, peanut butter packet, Dannon Danimals smoothie, and Minute Maid apple juice served with a spoon and napkins for $6. The kids lunch kit includes a PB&J Uncrustable, grapes, fresh fruit, carrots, chocolate chip cookies, and a small Dasani water for $7.
Though these items are currently listed on the My Disney Experience menus, they are not available for mobile order. It seems they have been added pre-maturely or may go through a test period before becoming a more permanent fixture at quick-service restaurants during hurricane season.
