PHOTOS: “S.E.A.” References Removed on Props Inside Jungle Cruise Queue at Magic Kingdom

The Jungle Cruise queue in Magic Kingdom has revealed several updates recently, with new props installed. We reported that references to the Society of Explorers and Adventurers (S.E.A.) were placed on the sides of boxes and crates in the queue, but these have now been surprisingly removed.

Previously, a logo for S.E.A. was painted on the sides of crates.

Now, these just show “Hightower Industries” and “Fragile” instead.

  1. They probably went “Oh, people aren’t liking the changes. They must dislike this SEA logo, and not how we removed all the charm for sjw brownie points. Let’s remove the SEA logo, that’ll do er!”

  2. I guess even pretend explorers from the West are too imperialistic for the sensitive crowd that runs Disney now.

  3. “Hightower Industries” IS an S.E.A. reference. Harrison Hightower owns the Hotel Hightower, the Tokyo DisneySea version of the Tower of Terror. This seems like a more subtle take.

  4. I can only guess that the Disney brass decided that something about these characters doesn’t work with the upcoming S.E.A. Disney+ series. Which makes no sense, I know.

    • Not sure you even read the article? This is about how a reference to Disney parks lore got changed to a less obvious easter egg but it is still referencing the same thing. Specifically one of the members and the company they run.

  5. SEA was a great unified themeing between park attractions and between parks themselves. That could easily have been developed into something bigger and more encompassing for advertising and new entertainment (A Disney + original show) Wasted opportunity.

  6. Should have stuck with SEA. Fun, imaginative and magical. I am sooooo ready to sell my 4 properties and spend my money elsewhere!!

  7. Weird. I wonder what their plan is for the heavily S.E.A.-themed Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Cantina.

  8. This is still a S. E. A. reference, just a less obvious one. Harrison Hightower III was a member in good standing of the Society, and he is the focus of Tokyo Disneyland’s Tower of Terror. I think they were trying to make this a less obvious Easter egg.
