Contactless security scanners have arrived at Disneyland Resort. We saw the scanners in use today as we entered at Downtown Disney District. The contactless scanners first arrived at Walt Disney World when the parks reopened last summer. The scanners were previously tested at Downtown Disney District last fall.
The security screening area currently has both contactless scanners and metal detectors.
The new contactless scanners are located beneath white canopies.
Guests are instructed to pass through the contactless scanners without stopping. However, guests must still pass through the metal detectors, even if the contactless scanner does not alert.
Guests who trigger a contactless scanner alert are subjected to additional screening and a thorough bag search.
Currently, the Downtown Disney District security checkpoint is the only one using the contactless scanners.
