PHOTOS: Two Items Per Guest Purchase Limits Extended to Nearly All Merchandise at Walt Disney World

The two-item purchase limit that Walt Disney World previously implemented for limited items and recently for all Halloween merchandise has now been extended to nearly all merchandise resort-wide.

Often with merchandise releases at Disney Parks, the stock can quickly be cleaned out by just a few people purchasing multiple copies of each piece of the newly released products and then reselling the merchandise at a higher price online. These “resellers” deplete the stock and leave precious little for the average visitor to purchase.

Guests will now see these signs throughout Walt Disney World shops, stating that products are limited to two per item per guest.

According to Cast Members, this limit now applies to all merchandise except for consumables, such as food and ponchos.

  1. I get why they do it, but for those of us normal folks that buy multiples of an item as legit gifts for others, it’s going to be a pain to have to potentially do multiple transactions if I need three or four of an item.

  2. You can pay for these, but you can’t buy THOSE!

Discounts for APs – no actors or shows.

No more free MagicBands. Unopened festival stands.

    It’s a $MALL world after all.

  3. Disney could solve some of this problem by releasing all items on shopDisney the SAME DAY as they are released in the Parks (as well as having limits). If items were available on shopDisney the same day, there wouldn’t be a market for eBay and other price gougers. It would also sell more products at shopDisney and help those of us who can’t go to the Park every day find the items we want. I’m sick of eBay jacking up prices!

  4. Support limits. If you really need more of same item for gifts (i.e., grandkids) go multiple days or another store. Good move by Disney.

  5. It’s a shame that certain consumers ruin the Disney experience for all of us who truly love to purchase items for ourselves and purchase items as gifts they should be ashamed I will always love my visits and cherish my time there

  6. Glad to see this policy!! Last year I paid well above retail for 2 Haunted Mansion ornaments on Ebay. ShopDisney was sold out. Up to 10 items were allowed to be purchased. I emailed Disney to complain about that.

  7. Agree. While it’s nice to be able to purchase items online from afar, not fair for people who can visit the park often to make a business out of buying all the highly coveted items.

  8. It is necessary at this point. Like most things in life a few people spoil things for everyone else. Look what happened to all the Splash Mountain merchandise as soon as the parks opened back up last year. Last December we wanted to get the gingerbread mickey and friends ornament set but couldn’t find it anywhere. A castmember at the Emporium told me they sold out in a day. She was off work the day they arrived and she never even got to see one herself because they were gone by the time she got back the following day!

  9. So happy to see this, my son collects the legacy lightsabers, we have driven up multiple times to buy him one to be told people were buying 10 at a time and sold out. We go on eBay to see them for 3 times what they bought it for.

  10. This is Magical Great News… I wanted to get Disney Halloween Crocks… of course could not find them @ the parks all sold out but meanwhile look online with the selling apps n this one lady had 17 pairs for double $$ the amount selling them… Thank U Disney Good Job Again Well Done… cuz it’s not fair to go to the parks n no more merchandise that u really want to purchase n more so for the amount of tickets that u need to pay just to find something in the parks that is sold out!!

  11. I’ve been there and watched people load up a baby carriage with multiple merchandise items on the opening day of the Flower and Garden Festival. It was appalling to see. Out of curiosity, I went on eBay while waiting to be allowed into Mouse Gears and found the items already on that website for sale. That was less than ten minutes after the store opened. It was what I suspected after not being able to get an item at previous festival visits because they were sold out. I’m glad they are limiting it.

  12. I am very torn about this.

On the one side, I completely understand. Scalpers of tickets and products are some of the lowest IMHO. Then again, the reason they stay in business is because of supply and demand.

As someone that has missed a lot of items over the years, I totally get it.

However, I feel bad for people who would have a legitimate need to purchase some items. I completely understand the limit on some items, but everything. So, no matching T-shirts for the family. I cannot bring back four matching toys items for my four nieces (prevents them fighting with each other)?

Sure, I could just do two transactions. Or go to multiple stores, or multiple days. Or I buy two and my wife buys two. But, what is going to enable ME to do that, without enabling THEM (the bad guys) to do the same?
