Disney After Hours Boo Bash began this evening at the Magic Kingdom and the happy haunts received our sympathetic vibrations as we wished for a sweet, festive treat. We stopped by Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square to try the Foolish Mortal Funnel Cake, which can only be ordered during the event.

We always enjoy a good funnel cake, and that’s what this special treat starts with. It’s appropriately sugared, fresh, and with a little crunch while still tender.
The cookie crumbles are more like cookie dust, sprinkled under the copious toppings.
From there, however, the random combination of ice cream, whipped cream, and M&Ms just doesn’t work. The ice cream and whipped cream alone would have made a nice dish, but the M&Ms added an artificial taste and texture we were let down by.
Also, as you can see above, we received chocolate ice cream instead of the advertised purple vanilla ice cream. The more neutral flavor would have helped balance the palette, and the purple would have added a nice additional pop of color. Overall, we recommend skipping this treat in favor of the other tastier choices at the event.
