Passholder Appreciation Days are in full swing at Universal Orlando Resort, bringing with it plenty of UOAP-exclusive food offerings.

Over at Mel’s Drive In in Universal Studios Florida, passholders can find these Kimchee Fries. As the name suggests, the fries are dusted with kimchee spices and served with Thai chili and sriracha aioli. With the introduction out of the way, it’s time to dig in!

These fries are spicy and salty with plenty of sweet heat. The sriracha aioli is to die for. It’s just a light drizzle so it doesn’t get the fries soggy, but it’s more than enough. The fries were hot, crispy, and heavily seasoned, so they come off as very salty and zesty. Make sure you get a drink with this, because you’ll need it.

Overall, the dish is very spicy, but it’s not a burn-your-mouth kind of spice. It packs a lot of heat but it’s also quite salty.

The only downside we experienced was that it took 20 minutes to get the fries while the restaurant wasn’t very busy, but that could be attributed to this being the first day they were being offered. Still, we’d get this again. The fries sell for $5.49.
