In a somewhat odd change, Disney is currently releasing Walt Disney World operating hours one day at a time. Previously, hours were normally released for entire weeks. We first noticed the change when hours were released for October 31.
The hours for Halloween were released August 21. Since that time, each subsequent release has been made only for single days. Today’s release includes November 7 hours for all four Walt Disney World theme parks, as well as Disney Springs and Blizzard Beach. Typhoon Lagoon remains closed.
The change to the hours release process may be a result of decreased demand due to rising COVID-19 cases in Florida. The attendance drop has also likely delayed the reopening of Disney’s All-Star Music Resort.
With the July 2020 addition of the Park Pass reservation system, Disney also has much more specific guest attendance data. This granular information may also allow Disney to more easily “walk” park hour releases on a daily basis.
WDWNT will continue to monitor Walt Disney World operating hour release trends.
