WATCH PARKSCENTER — FastPass Replacement Coming to Disney Parks, A Rough Week for Maintenance at WDW

Join us live for ParksCenter tonight, Sunday, August 15, at 8:00 p.m. ET!

Each week, we cover the top stories in Disney Parks news and discuss the topics at the top of the mind for the Disney community.

This week, the topic on everyone’s mind is the announcement that the U.S. based parks will be rolling out a FastPass replacement called “Lightning Lane.” This new feature will be part of the Genie park planning app and will roll out this fall. We’ll share what we know, what we don’t know, and our panel will debate what this means for the future of your Disney Parks experience.

We’ll also discuss a series of topics from around the Disney Parks, including the multiple audio-animatronic failures this past week, the monorail mishaps, and the permanent closure of the new NBA Experience. All this and more when we go Around the Hub!

Come join us tonight, chat along and let us know what YOU think about the new plans for Genie, Genie+, and Lightning Lane!

Also, our WIGS members receive a 30-minute interactive post-show each week, exclusive to our Patreon program.

Check out last week’s show below.

ParksCenter is broadcast live on YouTube every Sunday night at 8:00 p.m. ET!

  1. I think the new system sucks! Fast pass worked fine and did not add any additional cost. Disney reaps plenty from ticket sales, food sales plus all the toys that they shell. Additionally they charge for parking at both the parks and at their hotels. These cost increase annually. More charges for every little thing just makes them look greedy. Sooner or later they will kill the goose that lays the golden egg!

  2. That new Genie+ is a joke. Now pay to fast pass rides especially for families is a ripoff. For a family of 4 at $15 a person per day is $60 to get 1 ride at a time on the non popular rides is ridiculous. But if you want the popular ones guaranteed like Rise of the Resistance, you have to pay more? What a ripoff. Starting it for families in the fall, especially for the 50th anniversary, that already have reservations is nickel & diming every one of them. I was pretty sure I was done with Disney over all the price hikes & loss of perks this past year. With this, I won’t spend another penny there. The CEOs keep stepping on Walts legacy. He stated that he wanted the parks to be affordable for all families so they could have the best time without any worries. They have catered to the rich. That’s it.

  3. Maybe Disney should take note of the World Expo in Dubai – reasonable ticket prices and with the 30 day ($56.28) and 6 month pass ($142.00) you get 10 Smart Queue reservations per day (Lightning lane by another name!) One day Disney may just price themselves out of the dream they have created!
