In the flurry of Walt Disney World news released this morning, Disney has officially confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will open next year.

With construction and filming for the attraction being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was highly unlikely that the attraction would open this year, but work has picked up again, meaning that it will open the same year that EPCOT celebrates its 40th anniversary. No other details were offered beyond a 2022 opening date.

When it does open, the storytelling coaster in World Discovery will take guests on an adventure with Star Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot, featuring the first reverse launch on a Disney coaster.
