PHOTOS: Main Street, U.S.A. Lampposts Begin to Receive Gold Accents for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary
With Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary just weeks away, the lampposts on Main Street, U.S.A., are getting a new look for the big day.
Work has begun to give the lampposts gold accents in honor of the golden anniversary. The job is currently being done in stages, with various parts of each lamp getting painted.
Here, several of the circular “ring” sections are now a bright gold, though the top has not been touched yet.
Down the street, this lamp has only had its top painted, with the bottom still green.
Over by the Main Street Cinema, both the tops and the accents on the base of this lamppost have been given the gold treatment.
The gold accents the green quite nicely, adding a celebratory tone to the classic charm of Main Street.
Currently, it’s expected that only the accents will be repainted, as the posts recently got a fresh coat of green paint, though it’s possible that could change with three weeks left before the 50th on October 1.
Here’s a closer look at the top of the lamppost, which has an elegant gold look that stands out even in the rain.
So far, every lamppost has been given a touch of gold on either the top or bottom or both.
We expect this accent painting will be complete in the coming days.
Between the lampposts and the large clock, everything’s looking golden on Main Street, U.S.A., as “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” prepares to kick off.
