REVIEW: New Bride of Frankenstein and Dracula’s Kiss Doughnuts at Voodoo Doughnut in Universal Orlando Resort

With the beginning of Halloween Horror Nights comes plenty of fun Halloween treats at Universal Orlando Resort. Voodoo Doughnut in CityWalk has two new Halloween doughnuts inspired by the Bride of Frankenstein and Dracula.

Bride of Frankenstein – $3.75

Marble cake dipped in chocolate and vanilla icing

This is a pretty solid choice if you’re looking for something simple. The marbled cake base with vanilla and chocolate icing is basic but it’s a nice treat without many bells and whistles that will satisfy your sweet tooth.

We liked the vanilla icing better and the cake was a nice change of pace from the many specialty yeast doughnuts we’ve reviewed.

Compared to last year’s elaborately detailed Halloween Horror Nights Jack the Clown doughnut, this is disappointing appearance-wise, but we would still recommend it for taste.

Dracula’s Kiss – $3.75

Yeast doughnut in powdered sugar with a cherry filling

This reminded us of a pączki (Polish filled doughnuts). It was super soft, fresh, fluffy, and light. The two vampire bites oozing “blood” are a nice visual touch.

Unfortunately, the cherry filling was too heavy for us. There was a lot of it and it was a very tart, thick, pie-like filling.

The yeast doughnut part was incredible, but you really have to like cherry to completely enjoy this one.
