The role most affected by the change is chef’s assistant as well as Cook 1 candidates, which now offers a $1,500 bonus for new hires. Other roles, including certain positions in culinary and housekeeping staff, continue to offer a $1,000 bonus. Pay rates range from $14.00 to $19.00 per hour, with pay increases coming Sunday, October 3rd. Other positions being sought include custodial, quick service food and beverage, and steward capacities. Full- and part-time positions are available.

  1. Disney will lose thousands of cast members next month. Folks are waking up to it’s not a magical place to work. Go woke, go broke.

  2. Here’s an idea:
REHIRE the thousands of cast members who were unceremoniously terminated. I know they would LOVE to have their jobs back.
    NO BONUS NEEDED!

But that won’t make Chapek and his shareholders rich so never mind.

  3. I was a cast member back in the 90s and loved every minute of it. We took pride in our appearance and providing guest service excellence. I never thought I’d ever say this… but under the Chapek and D’Amaro regime, not even a $1500 bonus would bring me back.

There’s a reason why they’ve stooped to hiring anyone with a pulse… the culture is gone. Don’t get me wrong, Disney has always been about making money. But it has always done so by “earning it” through an exceptional cast who provided amazing experiences.

Now, they have the mentality that CMs are expendible and the guests will always keep coming simply because “it’s Disney”. Their current shove-it-in-your-face strategy of nickle and diming every little thing will eventually backfire when both CMs and guests realize that at the end of the day this regime has no remorse.

  4. Maybe if they would have kept us on indefinite furlow without pay instead of firing a third of their cast…they wouldn’t be in this situation. Terminated cast should be invited back with the bonus and choice of roles! Housekeeping is a hard job for young people much less a senior who spent nearly 20 years working for the company In an Attraction role I loved… to see it taken away…at no fault of my own. Where’s our call backs?
