There’s always some construction to look at in EPCOT these days, whether it’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind or Journey of Water. Let’s take a look at what was once Innoventions East and will eventually be a new quick-service restaurant and Starbucks.

The area that temporarily housed Mouse Gear was full of construction vehicles today.

We’ve mostly seen crew members working on the building’s ceiling.

There are many tiny steel poles sticking down from the ceiling now.

Some horizontal pieces can also be seen along the ceiling.

These are supports for what will be the actual ceiling of the dining locations.

Some of the roof overhang paneling also needs to be replaced, and it will all likely be repainted.

A new corner will of course be constructed on the outside of the building.

Construction walls extend into the breezeway next to Creations Shop.

More paneling encases the new Communicore “skylight” tubes we saw being constructed earlier this month.

The new windows on the rest of the building have blue Xs across them.

Construction lights were on inside. We could clearly see panels of PermaBase Cement Board on a wall.

While painting on the front of the building is mostly complete, this corner still needs a final touch-up.

The front of the building is otherwise a standard cream-white color, just like Creations Shop and Club Cool.

The new rounded corner still needs some paint as well, but it seems otherwise completed. It was still covered in scaffolding until recently.

From the Monorail, we can better see the dirt-covered construction site and the front of the building.

The white tents are for workers taking breaks.

Here we see that this side of the building is all now one color. An entryway for the dining locations is visible in the center of the windows to the left.

More construction vehicles were parked near the rounded corner that is nearing completion.

Back on the ground, we can see that the section of the building past the corner has also mostly been repainted.

Crew members were working on the roof.

  1. I can’t help but notice how that Guardians building really sticks out. Even with the color which tries to blend in to the sky (good job of that), it really stands out as it’s a big square box resembling nothing surrounding it.

    Great status report. Thanks.
