We still haven’t tried every 50th anniversary food item at Walt Disney World. Our quest to try each treat brought us to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. The Mara, the resort’s quick service location, has a 50th Anniversary Tart that uses Ghanaian chocolate.
50th Anniversary Tart — $5.49
Ghanaian chocolate tart with 50th Anniversary coin
The 50th Anniversary Tart is packaged in a display box. The box has plastic windows on three sides.
The box can easily be unfolded to get to the tart.
A 50th Anniversary chocolate coin — the same one we have seen on many desserts — is affixed atop the pastry shell.
The mousse is made with Ghanaian chocolate. It provides an interesting flavor. We like the subtleness on the front end, which is followed by a sweetness on the backend. The mousse is best when combined with the tart beneath. Ghanaian chocolate has an almost musty, woody taste along with a fruity, creamy taste, too.
The top layer of the tart uses a much richer, thicker chocolate. The bottom layer is similar to a marzipan, which produces an almond flavor.
We can easily recommend this to chocolate mousse lovers.
