Even though The World’s Most Magical Celebration has been going on for over a month, new surprises continue to pop up around Walt Disney World for its 50th anniversary. Over at Main Street Bakery in the Magic Kingdom, a new dessert throws it all the way back to October 1st, 1971!

The blue ganache matches the EARidescent colors used to mark the 50th, which have been featured in other desserts we’ve seen around the resort.

And it wouldn’t be a real celebration without Cinderella Castle, which appears on the white chocolate piece!

To complete the “opening day” vibe, the sprinkles are colored to resemble balloons, and when you tilt the whole thing slightly down, you can see it sort of looks like balloons “flying” over the castle, just as they did over fifty years ago.

That being said, it doesn’t quite reflect just how many balloons were released on opening day, and looks more bare towards the back.

After that look back in time, we’ve worked up an appetite. Let’s dig in!

It’s a milk chocolate mousse with a strawberry mousse center. Overall, it’s quite delicious. The milk chocolate mousse has great texture and not overpowering in chocolate flavor. The chocolate cake at the bottom is extremely thin, and to be honest, we would’ve liked more of it, especially with how much mousse there is. This should be good for those with gluten sensitivities, as the cake is gluten-friendly.

The balloon sprinkles add a crunch to the the overall soft texture of the cake. The EARidescent ganache adds a very subtle hint of vanilla to the dessert, but be warned, it will turn your teeth blue. The white chocolate medallion is good for decoration, but that’s about it. Still, altogether, this light dessert is pretty enjoyable!

  1. $7 for something the size of a twinkie. And, people will shell it out and Disney will laugh all the way to the bank.
