Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park at Walt Disney World Resort is reportedly expected to reopen on January 2, 2022.

Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park was supposed to close for its annual refurbishment the day after Christmas. But this has been pushed back to January 1, 2022 so that Walt Disney World has at least one water park open.

We were expecting Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon to open in December but delays in refurbishment have pushed it back to January 2, 2022.

Both water parks receive an annual refurbishment, but Typhoon Lagoon has not reopened since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Blizzard Beach remained closed for a year, finally reopening on March 7, 2021.

There still has been no official announcement released by Disney regarding the water park’s reopening.

  1. I know central Florida is a lot warmer in mid-winter than where we live in So.California near Disneyland, but still to me it is way too cool for a water park with temps being maybe in the low 70s.
So why are they planning to fully staff and reopen Typhoon Lagoon then? Why not wait until March right before Spring break time?

Am I wrong? Do a lot of people go to water parks around Orlando in January and February?

    • Definitely not fully staffed at this time. I’m local and we got to blizzard beach often blizzard beach staff will just go to typhoon lagoon and will be staffed similarly. It’s dead and nice! ! Get one every ride without a wait! Don’t wait for food! Worth every penny during downtimes cuz no one wants to go but i do!
