Expedition Everest 5K and runDisney Springtime Surprise Challenge Sell Out Within 30 Minutes

Registration opened for the runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend at 2:00 p.m. EST today. The Expedition Everest 5K and the Springtime Surprise Challenge both sold out within 30 minutes.

The Expedition Everest 5K is a race and scavenger hunt hybrid. The Springtime Surprise Challenge included the Expedition Everest 5K, Race for the Taste 10K, and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler.

The latter two races as well as the weekend’s sunrise yoga event are still available individually. Registration for the Sunrise Surprise virtual races will open at 10:00 a.m. EST on December 14.

  1. I attempted to register for the Everest 5k. When my screen refreshed at 2:02 pm, I was out in a virtual waiting room that said you wait would be about 56 minutes. Fortunately, the wait was not that long. But once I got into the registration room, challenge and 5k were sold out. You had to refresh your screen and get in the virtual registration room within two minutes of registration going live. Which begs the question of how many pre registrations were sold to the DVC and runDisney club members to leave such a small supply of bibs for the general public.

I have done several rundisney races before. Never I have seen registrations this bad. Hopefully they open up a few more bibs.
