Though Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club Resort reopened last year with an excellent breakfast, the breakfast buffet was unavailable due to health and safety restrictions. The buffet has finally returned on February 15, 2022.
Cape May Cafe Interior
Breakfast is $25 per adult and $14 per child.
Guests must keep their masks on when at the buffet and sanitize their hands between each visit. They are not allowed to bring the same plate back up.
Crêpe Station
The crêpes were a disappointment. They were awful. It tasted like they used the tortilla batter to make them. Skip these.
Potatoes, Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausage
Mickey & Minnie Waffles, French Toast, Pancakes
Tater Tots
Parker House Rolls
Carving Station
Tortilla Wrap Station
Eggs Benedict
The Eggs Benedict was okay, but the eggs were a little overcooked, and the Hollandaise sauce was broken. It was slightly salty, but otherwise, it didn’t have a lot of flavor.
Vegetables
The seasonal vegetable during our visit was asparagus.
Omelet Station
There are multiple options at the omelet station. There’s ham and cheese; a Western omelet of ham, cheese, onions, and peppers; or a vegetable option of onions, mushrooms, peppers, and spinach.
It can be customized with ham, cheddar cheese, mushrooms, onions, peppers, and spinach. We chose the ham and cheese omelet.
The chefs prepared it quickly and expertly.
This was a nice upgrade from the omelets you previously ordered from your table.
Biscuits and Gravy
The biscuits are kind of small, but moist and delicious.
Oatmeal, Yogurt Parfait, Mixed Seasonal Fruit
All of the standard breakfast options were enjoyable. This includes Mickey and Minnie waffles, scrambled eggs, pancakes, tater tots, bacon, and sausage.
The steak and eggs scramble was a little salty but had good flavors that blended well. The tofu scramble is a solid option for those who might not enjoy some of the other foods.
Beach Buns
Salted Caramel Pull-apart Bread topped with Cinnamon Streusel
“Beach Buns” are brought to your table, and they are the highlight of the meal. It’s essentially a soft cinnamon roll loaf.
The cream takes it to another level. It’s the perfect sweet accompaniment to French toast and waffles.
Beverages
Tickled Pink – $15
Rose flavored Monin Syrup & Stoli Vanilla Vodka, topped with Sparkling Wine, Garnished with Strawberry Pop Rocks and a dash of shimmer
The drink is popping upon arrival, which is fun, but it tastes kind of like soap.
We could taste the alcohol, but the dominant flavor is somewhat medicinal.
Overall, the buffet was just ok. There was nothing special about it; the “standards” were usual the fare, but fresh. The steak and egg scramble and chocolate chip pancakes were the best items. The specialty drink we had wasn’t that great, either.
If you’re looking for a simple and affordable breakfast buffet, this is not a bad choice. However, we recommend Ale & Compass’s buffet over Cape May. It’s a similar price point, plus the entrees and buffet items we had were of much better quality and freshness there.
