Office of Governor DeSantis Responds to Bob Chapek Regarding ‘Don’t Say Gay’ Bill

The office of Governor Ron DeSantis has released a statement regarding Bob Chapek contacting them about the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

During today’s shareholders’ meeting, CEO Bob Chapek finally took a stand against the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, which recently passed the Florida senate. The bill would still need to be signed into law by Governor DeSantis and Chapek said he spoke to the governor on the phone this morning.

The governor’s office says, “Disney contacted our office today to speak with the governor. This is the first time we have heard from Disney regarding HB 1557. The governor did take the call from Mr. Chapek. The governor’s position has not changed. No in-person meeting has been scheduled yet.”

Chapek stated the governor had agreed to take a meeting with him and leaders of the LGBTQ+ community soon. He said that Disney had been opposed to the bill from the beginning but did not want to take a public stance and was working behind the scenes.

  1. Today? After it passed the senate? Disney has big pockets so if he really cared he would have done something earlier. Or so what he’s good at- pull the money.
    Bob …. Sigh.

  2. Chapek: “I’ve been working behind the scenes the whole time!”

DeSantis: “Today is the first time we’ve heard from him.”

Wow…. That’s embarrassing…. or would be, if robots could feel actual human emotions. Domo arigato, Mr. Robo-Chapek!

  3. Lies! He donated a LOT of money to fund this bill, I guess the backlash is too much for him now? Worst thing to ever happen to the Disney company is him!
