Just a few months after being completely refurbished, the furniture in the lobby of Disney’s Contemporary Resort is being updated and replaced. New check-in desks have now been revealed after being blocked off for a few days.
The new desks have the same dark wood finish and white marble countertops as the previous desks.
The difference is in shape. The previous desks were rectangular, while these have rounded corners for an oval shape.
This first desk has a lowered middle counter to be more friendly to wheelchair users.
The fronts of the desks have dynamic indents.
Signs for refurbishment still block the desks as Cast Members finish setting up the computers.
Below is what the last desks looked like.
The rounded desks are probably safer and more accessible.

Interesting choice – I think the sharp-lined rectangular desk fits the Contemporary theme a bit better (rounded kind of gives me weird island/boaty vibes). There is more modern rounded furniture around with the retheme, which does work, so not a big deal…just dont think these desks look as retro-modern.
