REVIEW: New Savory Beignet-Based Dishes and Cocktails from Scat Cat’s Club at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort French Quarter

We stopped by Disney’s Port Orleans Resort French Quarter to try some of the new menu items at the Scat Cat’s Club.

We decided to try two appetizers and three drinks on this most recent visit. We ordered Scat Cat Beignets, an Oyster Beignet Po’Boy, a Bebop Bloody Mary, and a Syncopation Shift.

Oyster Beignet Po’ Boy – $15

Mickey-shaped Beignet with Fried Oysters, Lettuce, Tomato, Cajun Rémoulade, and House-made Pickles served with Potato Chips

Scat Cat's Club

This dish was so flavorful, and everything comes through in each bite.

Scat Cat's Club

In addition to adding a little sweetness, the beignet was light and moist in this dish.

Scat Cat's Club

The pickles add a sour crunch.

Scat Cat's Club

The oysters are seasoned perfectly and deep-fried to perfection. They are crispy on the outside and taste fresh.

Scat Cat's Club

The Cajun remoulade ties it all together with a minimal kick and a bit of salt.

Scat Cat’s Beignets – $10

Trio of Mickey-shaped Beignets served with Red Pepper Jelly, Pimento Cheese, Green Goddess Dressing, and Dusted with Powdered Sugar

Scat Cat's Club

These classic beignets from the cafe are light, sweet, and crispy.

Scat Cat's Club

The Green Goddess dressing is nice and creamy with a cheese-y aftertaste.

Scat Cat's Club

The Green Goddess dressing brings a sweet and savory aspect, which reminded us of spinach dip.

The pimento dip was harder to physically dip the beignet into, but it’s a good saltier cheesy dip.

Scat Cat's Club

Again, the sweet beignet counters it nicely.

Scat Cat's Club

The pepper jelly dip is sweet with the beignet. It’s a good dip, but we think it would work better with something salty (like a chip or cracker) to counter all the sweetness.

Scat Cat's Club

The sweet dough has us preferring either the pimento or green goddess here.

Bebop Bloody Mary – $15

Absolut Vodka, Spicy Bloody Mary Mix, Shrimp, Andouille Sausage, and Celery

This drink had a good ratio of vodka, tomato juice, and spice. You can taste each flavor in every sip.

The shrimp and andouille sausage soaked up some tomato juice, and the garnishes lost their original flavors. They just tasted like tomato. We feel they are more for look than taste.

Celery is a classic in a Bloody Mary, so that went well. It comes with a salty and spicy rim. This was delicious, and we would order this again.

Syncopation Shift – $18

Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Bayou Silver Rum, Cruzan Mango Rum, and Midori Melon Liqueur with Pineapple Juice and a souvenir Glow Cube. Served in a Souvenir Cup

This drink was quite sweet. The pineapple juice is strong, hiding most of the alcohol taste.

We taste mostly rum. Upfront, you get pineapple juice with rum coming in on the back end.

We don’t taste any vodka or melon liqueur. It tastes like a mai tai.

Bonfamilles Bourbon Peach Tea – $16

Woodford Reserve Bourbon and Bols Peach Schnapps with Fresh-brewed Sweet Tea

The tea isn’t overly sweet, which is nice. The peach is very minimal and almost nonexistent. However, it’s a refreshing bourbon and tea drink.

After squeezing the lemon in, the tart citrus adds a hint of freshness. Overall, we enjoyed this drink.
