Disney Board Says CEO Bob Chapek Has Their ‘Support and Confidence’ in Official Statement

In an official statement, The Walt Disney Company’s board backed CEO Bob Chapek and his leadership.

Susan E. Arnold, chairwoman of the board, said in the statement to the New York Times, “The strength of the Walt Disney Company’s businesses coming out of the pandemic is a testament to Bob’s leadership and vision for the company’s future. In this important time of business growth and transformation, we are committed to keeping Disney on the successful path it is on today, and Bob and his leadership team have the support and confidence of the Board.”

Chapek has run into several controversies this year alone, most notably regarding Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill. Insiders say that there are replacement candidates.

  1. Again, the profits are high because Chapek is nickel and diming us on everything, every aspect of the parkgoing and hotel experience. Give me a break. He benefited from everyone wanting to get out of the house post lockdown, and go to the parks. Money was saved up. That money appears to be drying up, along with the profits. His park res system is wide open this summer for the Anaheim parks. It was only a matter of time before the wallets emptied out. Chapek is a disaster. He’s charging us for everything, even things that were included for years prior, and he’s giving us less than ever before. The parks are filthy, the rides are in disrepair, the food quality is worse, and the portions are smaller. He’s also running on a skeleton crew to again maximize profits and his bonus. So we get to wait on hold for 4 hours or longer, because he laid everyone off. Here’s to a bad Q3 and Q4 – leading into Chapeks term ending in February. Chapek is the antithesis of Disney.

    • But otherwise, it sounds like you think he’s doing a heck of a job though, right? ;o)

Chapek needs to be fired immediately.

    • They will see the error of their ways once the 50th is over, people are done with revenge vacationing, and Epic Universe opens. This point in time is also the start of a major recession with epic gas prices, which historically has hurt WDW each time something like this happens.

They seem to think the upper middle class will continue to spend spend spend, but why go to WDW when for the same price, you could just go to Europe? Unfortunately it sounds like Chapek has ruined EuroDisney too, but I bet many fans will now consider traveling to Japan, and visiting those parks, which aren’t owned by Disney, merely licensed.

  2. Sounds like the entire Disney Board needs to go then, and be replaced with actual people that care about the customers and Walt’s vision to make it a place where people of all levels on income can attend the parks.

    • Of particular interest to me is the fact that, if this statement were anything other than the BOD trying to stop the bleeding in stock price caused by Chapek’s litany of shortsighted, quarter-to-quarter business decisions, the BOD would have also announced a contract extension for Chapek to go along with this statement of support. Thankfully, this did not happen. I view this statement to be worth no more than the proverbial paper upon which it was written.

  3. Ditto and Ditto to Brooke and Robyn. Just so sad for the entire company and park experience not even mentioning the stock price that is at half of what it was a year ago,,,

  4. Yeah – I’m not to fond of this guy, just looks like an a$$. Like most, I’ve gone to Disney for YEARS throughout my entire life and am a part of DVC. I’m glad I got to take my kids last summer prior to Genie+ (or whatever it is called…) coming out. We shouldn’t have to pay to ride rides, that we are already PAYING to ride to get into the parks. This is insane and it’s not helping the line issue – it’s an employment issue. Eventually, people will stop paying it, and eventually, Disney will start to dry up and dreams diminished because of money hungry people like Chapek running businesses into the ground for their own benefit – not the peoples.
Honestly, he needs to be removed. Others can and will only be blamed for bad business practices for so long. I had honestly hoped he wouldn’t have been named CEO (along with the rest of us). Sort of makes me sick. 🤢

  5. Then I’m afraid that Disney is doomed. We will no longer support Disney and it’s products as long as Bob Cheapskate is in charge.

  6. MEMO TO SHAREHOLDERS: When you get your proxy ballot in the mail, please, PLEASE, vote this BOD out of office. Look at what they have done, not only to the stock values but to the reputation Disney once held. Look what they’ve done to the condition of the parks, look what they’ve done to company morale, read some of the comments from long time Disney patrons who are finding other places to spend their entertainment dollars. Please, vote with your hearts and minds, put Disney back on the path that Walt Elias Disney so accurately plotted out.

  7. The board of directors counts on us not returning our proxy ballots, show them that we do care and that we do not like the woke direction Disney has taken. VOTE, VOTE, VOTE.
