Tokyo Disney Resort has revealed its annual New Years event, which traditionally leans more into the Japanese cultural aspects. This year being the Year of the Rabbit, we’ll be seeing lots of Thumper and Miss Bunny around from January 1 through 16 of next year.
At Tokyo Disneyland, the New Year’s Greeting will return as always, with Mickey, Minnie, and the other Disney friends appearing on the generic float to greet guests in traditional Japanese garb.
And the same over at Tokyo DisneySea, appearing on the generic blue barge in their New Years kimono to greet guests around Mediterranean Harbor.
Kadomatsu and signage will flank the entrances to both parks, as is standard for the New Years events.
Guests can meet Mickey and Minnie in their special New Years costumes exclusively through purchase of a Vacation Package, likely starting at ¥55000 ($379) and up depending on availability.
Disney Resort Line
Two special souvenir tickets will be available on the Disney Resort Line to commemorate the New Year.
Traditionally, the new merchandise leans into the animal of the year. This year being the year of the tiger, all merchandise featured Chandu from Sindbad’s Storybook Voyage. 2023 is the year of the rabbit, so Thumper and Miss Bunny join Mickey and Minnie on merchandise!
All below merchandise releases December 1.
