Themed Ticket Scanners Installed at Universal’s Islands of Adventure Exit, Walls Partially Up Around Entrance Area

As you’re preparing to exit your journey around the Islands of Adventure at Universal Orlando Resort, for more than two decades you’d usually push your way out through a turnstile. But now they’ve been removed in favor of new digital turnstiles similar to those we saw added over the summer at Universal Studios Florida.

Walls went up around the exit area a couple of months ago, and have now come down with these new scanners.

These scanners may be installed here as a pilot, with their installation at the entrances possible depending on how these work. Current turnstiles at Universal’s Islands of Adventure have one Team Member managing one scan station, each with a scan pad and fingerprint reader. These new stations condense two into one, with one Team Member possibly able to work the station on their own. A fingerprint scanner and a scan box are in place.

The new scanners are shaped like travel trunks, in theme with Port of Entry.

Handheld scanners are also installed. Readers appear to be in place on the sides as well to track entering or exiting guests on their way out.

iPad-like devices top the scanners.

Currently these new scanners are only installed at the park’s exit, which is not actually being used. Currently, guests are directed out the side-entrance typically reserved for Annual Passholders.

Walls are up around another portion of the Islands of Adventure entrance, possibly to install these new scanners. Currently the metal stand-style gates are still in use.
