Good morning from the Transportation and Ticket Center. It looks like it’s going to be a very busy day based on these long lines for security this morning. In addition to the high crowds, Hurricane Nicole will be making landfall today and we are already seeing rain and wind from the storm. We’re planning on visiting Magic Kingdom and a few resorts today. Let’s get started!
The security lines were backed up all the way into the parking lot this morning when we arrived at Magic Kingdom. It is going to be a very busy day today.
The lines for transportation were not much better.
We decided to stop by Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa for a little holiday cheer and to see the opening of the gingerbread house. The gingerbread house stands approximately 7′ tall and 12′ wide. According to a poster, located on the side, this year’s house is made from 1,050 pounds of honey, 140 pints of egg whites (approx.: 1,960 egg whites), 600 lbs of confectioners sugar, 700 lbs of chocolate, 800 lbs of flour, 35 lbs of spices… and, of course, immeasurable amounts of creativity and time. And we can’t forget about Disney magic and pixie dust.
There were so many treats available to purchase at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa gingerbread house.
You can even purchase your own gingerbread shingle with dark chocolate.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa gingerbread house is open 9:30am to 9:00pm daily.
Next we decided to hop on the monorail and check out Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Work has begun on the gingerbread display. We spoke to the chef and they informed us the display this year is a 50th anniversary theme complete with Mickey and Minnie 50th gold statues. We can’t wait to see the completed gingerbread display.
We decided to do some shopping in Bayview Gifts. There was a new “20 Magical Years,” Walt Disney World T-shirt available. This T-shirt is part of the 20th anniversary Vault Collection.
We also spotted this youth T-shirt featuring Mickey in a Santa hat.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort gingerbread house ornament has arrived. This ornament features the Fairy Godmother, Jaq and Gus.
There was also a blue milk & cookie set for Star Wars lovers. This set features adorable Ewoks who are “Up to Snow Good For the Holidays.”
As we entered Magic Kingdom the rain and the wind started to increase from Hurricane Nicole. We were surprised how crowded the park was considering it was closing early due to the hurricane.
A new Minnie Mouse holiday sweater has arrived in the Emporium. This adorable sweater features Minnie making her list then checking it twice and embroidered snowflakes and accents all around the sweater.
Guests are starting to clear out of the parks as the storm approaches. It’s time for us to say goodbye for the day!
We hope you enjoyed following along with our day!
